I personally prefer OpenStreetMap maps though, which you can also use in BaseCamp.

If you have purchased Garmin maps, install them, and have them registered wit Garmin. After you have done that, first of all you need to install the map(s) you'll be seeing your tracks on. I assume you have downloaded and installed BaseCamp, which you can get here.

Although I haven't done so yet, I like the idea that I could update OpenStreetMap with my own data if I wanted to. I haven't encountered any bogus trails and very few trails were missing.
